York County (VA) Public Schools Announcement of Superintendent Search

The School Board of York County (VA) Public Schools invites applications and nominations for the position of Superintendent.

THE COUNTY
York County is a county in the eastern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia, located in the Tidewater. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the population was 70,045. The county seat is the unincorporated town of Yorktown. Situated midway between Richmond and Virginia Beach, the county’s residents help comprise the nation’s 37th largest metropolitan area, commonly referred to as Hampton Roads.

History comes alive in the Historic Triangle of Yorktown, Williamsburg and Jamestown. Home to the Yorktown Battlefield and Visitor Center, as well as a neighbor to Colonial Williamsburg and both Historic Jamestown and the Jamestown Settlement, York’s many historic sites provide citizens with unique opportunities.

The area is fortunate to have an expanding commercial and industrial base, while also enjoying affordable and plentiful housing and a moderate cost of living. As a 2005 Money Magazine “Best Places to Live” finalist, York residents have at their fingertips a wide variety of personal, professional and leisure opportunities.
