Announcement of Executive Director Search

The Virginia High School League (VHSL) Executive Committee invites applications and nominations for the position of executive director. The anticipated starting date is July 1, 2025.

THE VHSL

The VHSL is an alliance of Virginia’s public and approved non-boarding, non-public high schools that promotes education, leadership, sportsmanship, character and citizenship for students by establishing and maintaining high standards for school activities and competitions.

QUALIFICATIONS

The VHSL Executive Committee has established the following qualifications for the next executive director of the Virginia High School League:

•  An earned bachelor’s degree is required.
•  An earned master’s degree is required.
•  Experience as a school or central office administrator is preferred.
•  Experience as an athletic director is preferred.
•  Experience in Virginia is preferred.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a strong communicator and strategic thinker
• Have a clear vision of the future of high school athletics and activities in Virginia
• Be prepared to innovate using technology and digital engagement
• Use a balanced approach when making decisions on behalf of the VHSL community

SALARY

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
